El Taller de Morgana is the project of a friend and fellow illustrator and editor from Spain Maria Parra. Her love for sewing has made her create this blog where she has started to take commissions for medieval and renaissance garments. She has proposed a line of "basic" medieval designs that you can order to be made with your measures for a price of 150 eur plus shipping. The only way now is to contact her directly through the site where you can pick the fabrics or simply request further information . She´s based in Spain. Of course we will update this article when more examples are provided as this costuming project of hers has recently launched. Note that the website is in spanish only but feel free to contact the crafter in english.

Von Lancelot is an ebay store that feature a very affordable collection of renaissance, medieval, pirate, colonial and vintage garments.
I have to say that it's one of those rare cases where the quality of the actual real garment might be more than you were waiting for the price you paid and the photos provided by ebay. I have a neighbor that ordered one and I'll say it was an offer (because they have lots of sales and special offers too) and I was surprised because it was much better than she and I had expected and it really suited her well, she´s become a happy customer so I have seen quite a few of the things with my eyes. The fabric was really soft and the trim was not cheesy. Of course you can always order a simple garment and ten use it as a base to customize it.

Moresca is a New York based company specialized in fairy-tale, fantasy and renaissance costumes. I had the chance to see the wonderful bodices, garments, gowns and accesories when I attended as performer to the faeriecon last 2009. I fell in love with the seagull short bodice but I wasn't fast enough! people grabbed them in one day... as lovely as they were. I'll probably will be getting this one for a videoclip. I think it's heavenly adorable. It belongs to the MORESCA "seagull" collection, though I think of an "artic wolf" too and that's the way I want to characterize myself with it.

When it comes to the point to find the right shoes for a fantasy garment, it's often one of the weak points that often spoil the historical or rigor of it all. I just found this wonderful site Lady Oren's medieval shoes with a lovely collection of shoes and boots. Most shoes can be made in leather or suede and you can add some motifs in certain models. I love these below, a with a leaf fairy design burnt on leather:
We´ve all seen drawings in old books of Irish fairy tales with those fancy to dance all night away with goblins and fairies... Ghillies are typical soft leather shoes for irish and scottish dancing in fact and have a lovely ancient traditional historical look For an accurate definition read this wikipedia article about them (yes I know this term is also used for some camouflage material as we´ll cover in the future). Surfing the net I found the perfect site for them...
