Next 29th and 30th of September Europe celebrates a Steampunk convention and several countries will participate making gatherings of steampunk lovers in different locations and cities, many of them will even connect among themselves broadcasting online their events. In this site you can find some info about the event EuroSteamCon and EuroSteamCon (facebook). This is the first attempt of a global continental celebration in this genre of fantasy :) and we´re really looking forward the results. Looks also like a lovely way of different countries steampunk-lovers to get in touch.

So here a snippet of some of the people and garments you will find next 29th of September around my area (Barcelona, Spain). This is the flyer of  the activities and a trailer/reel of the participants in my local area (that I'll be attending myself ;-)). But check your location to find the nearest steampunk convention/gathering

13th Psyche  is a craft store run by two amazing Spanish illustrators Bea Gonzalez (aka Vhea) and her partner  Nekro. So aside from her artworks derivative crafts you can find lots of pretty things but I happen to make this article to highlight the lovely collection of  tiny bottles necklaces the she has featured in her etsy store. Some are fairy, other with a more victorian and even steampunk look, and also some cute pirate/mermaid motif. Handmade with love and imagination and delivered safely packaged and inside a cute organza bag if you want to surprise someone. You could surprise me with this one below, that is my favorite LOL! :) hint hint!

I happen to have an obsession for "glow in the dark" items :). There's something so magical about them :)

Vrykolakas visions is a little store that specializes in super fluffy cat, fox and canine tales made of high quality faux fur. I am still searching for a lovely white wolf tail I'm plotting for a videoclip ;-) and ended up here. I like the canine models because they're pretty realistic but animal-friendly. Faux fur rocks! So thought of making a little entry while bookmarking. Please do not support real fur items, they're simply cruel when there is no need to achieve the look. All tails in this store are handmade. I think they're fun even for daily wear if you're a daring person. I would do! ;-) though they're perfect for animal costumes and cosplayers. They also make some funny furry accessories like ears and hats.

Colour contacts are fun, and an easy way to get an striking look. They're among the most used items for cosplay, and we previously covered some special fx contact lenses in a previous article in your fantasy costume, and indeed more articles about these kind of items are to come. Kiwiberry is a store that specializes in color contact lenses (both natural and striking fantasy hues), circle lenses to make your eyes bigger (like a doll or anime girl) and fake eyelashes to make the final effect for eye-catchy :). But the good new is that they're durable, comfortable and yes! cheap (average price per pair is only 20$ and often less if you pick a sale or discount! They have over 900 different models They´re based in Korea but shipping costs are reasonable, specially when combining orders. Another good thing from Kiwiberry is that they run discounts on a regular basis (some up to 50%) and they also run fidelity programs. If you happen dark eyes, some of the natural colors will show a bit subtle, I happen to have light blue eyes so they looked quite striking and close to the color portrayed. Still if you want something that is obvious I recommend the higher diameter (to enlarge your eyes) or the neon and vibrant colours. The result will be always less striking than you see in the picture as it will overly a bit and blend with your natural color, so don't hesitate in going for something vivid. There are different patterns, going from natural to doll-like with solid rings. They're all quite big, so probably will enlarge your iris and make your eyes pop out and look bigger. The smaller size is quite large already (for me they're perfect as I happen to have big eyes)

Above:  Fake eyelashes wispy bold style with winged ends. Fake eyelashes always look so glamourous! If you're shy about  its striking effect they have also more natural and discrete models. They come in sets and are really affordable-

Remember always to lubricate if you're not used to wear contact lenses. They offern different diameters and remember the bigger the more caution you must have with keeping your eyes hydrated with artificial drops. But I'd worn mine for a videoclip shooting around four hours and no signs of uncomfort I must say. I'm short sighted and mine were plano so I cannot tell if there's slight graduation in the plano ones. Remember that piggybacking (put an fx contact lens over your actual graduated lenses) is not healthy for your eyes. So I'm using mine only for photoshoots and video shooting and not going out with them becuase I would need mine with prescription. If you must, do it little time and at your own risk, but It won't be comfortable.

I've received some courtesy new samples (thank you! <3)  from kiwiberry, indeed i'm now tempted to use the pink and golden for some photoshoots so I'll come back later on to update this article with the pictures :) I got some lovely pink ones I may go for an "albino" photoshoot. Oh now I want to try Aqua and forest green and Violet and red! LOL hahaha!

I absolutely love this grey wig :) It is affordable yet it doesn't look so synthetic and shiny, just the right white-grey with a touch of silver and casual hair arrangement :) Definitely  might go for one of these :)

In that article you can find a bit of everything of what you need to dress in rococo style. Still from time to time we stumble upon some amazing websites to grow that article on, and even stores that deserve their own entry at the blog. This has been the case of Antoinette´s Atelier, a  delightful store run by NY based designer Kathleen Marie that specializes in massive, professional rococo wigs (quite pricey but absolutely breathtaking for those who would not spoil their rococo garments with cheap shiny wigs) and also  one of a kind accessories (like slippers) and garments inspired in 18th century luxuries :) Enjoy!
