I found this rather popular and interesting tutorial of “how to make fairy wings” that was showcased in tv program “crafters from coast to coast”. Curiously enough it’s made by a singer-songwriter Emilie Autumn (yay for fairy artists!!, I agree myself there’s nothing more adorable than the feeling of wearing wings on stage!). The tutorial is rather clear and complete and very EASY… go for it!

I know you like pointy ears... me too! That’s because you’re a bit freak… yes, yes, me too!and below you can see me using them… !!
They are tricky though becuase can be easily purchased from almost halloween or costume store at low prices… but they are hideously looking… and you’ll find everyone with pieces of “plastic” hanging loose from their ears looking everything but fantastic… :/ arg!
So this article will give you an affordable alternative!
Aradani Studios is a company run by Michael and Paul Bielaczyc that specializes in making hand-painted latex elf ears as well as other costuming products like ear cuffs, latex make up and more…!
No matter what’s the colour of your skin (they offer them for light, medium or dark skin and also unpainted along with make-up palettes so you can customize them) or ear size… (you’ll find tiny hobbit ears, longer elf models and even those lovely long anime elf ears line in Lodoss Wars) even if we all know a custom mold cast from your own ears is always the best option and not very difficult or expensive either… the truth is that Aradani offers a good variety in affordable prizes and good quality… I gave them a try and purchased their “small ear model” in light skin colour that you can purchase here.
Below I post some pictures and their auctions in ebay, where I purchased them, the price goes from 15 $ in the small elf ears to 35$ in the longer models
Yes, there´s always a noticeable line that you have to mask but they also offer some lovely ear cuffs for that…. (it looks like these guys doesn’t leave any chance to question their work
which is good)-.
To end with this little article I want to remind you not to forget your Spirit gum to glue them and a remover (if you don’t want to suffer when getting them off). And remember that only a few drops and some care is needed for attaching them… do not abuse of the glue or you’ll feel an aching tearing after a while of wearing them.
Click on the pics to purchase the glue and remover (a must need!)
Glowbys are a fiberoptic sparkling hair light. They come in different colours and consist of a clip with a flat black barrette that contains two tiny batteries (CR1620), which last about 7-8 hours before getting dim. The barrette is a little bit hard to hide though the manufacturers (luminence) offers too some models with that covered with crystals. In my opinion if you want them to be unnoticed the simple option is best, and then with an easy “slide” movement you can turn them on and off.
So far I have a few myself in different colours, the “white” ones look a little bit “pale blue” and not strictly white, but still I think white and purple are the best, the other are maybe a little bit “too festive” for me, although as I say, there is a moment for everything, and you might want to be just precisely that. They’re funny and cheap, really worth a try… they’re ideal for parties, concerts, and dark places because they really look cool in the darkness… But do not abuse… or you will look like a christmas tree!
You can purchase both the GLOWBYs and its batteries from ebay very easily! Click on this link or on any of the pictures.
Yes, they are creepy….

Sclera lenses are fx contact lenses that cover most of the eye surface. Yes, you’ve seen them many times in movies!!! From the full blackout (that will make you look as a feeric creature or alien) to the complete white that will make you look blind (and in this particular case, you cannot see through them either), but even if some can limit your sight, you’ll see perfectly through most of the models.
Disclaimer: In USA you’ll need a prescription to purchase them if you don’t have sight problems… I’m spanish and here you can buy them freely but unfortunately the models around here are much more restricted in number and variation. In any case you have to be aware that you DO HAVE to take care of your eyes purchasing a high quality lense, made of a material highly oxygen permeable. This is very important because your eye needs to breath in order not to cause an irreversible injury. You are supposed NOT TO wear them over your own contact lenses (piggybacking) so if you need them powered the handicap is that they’re only made up to some gradation. If for that reason and at your own risk you decide to wear it over your own contact lenses, please DO NOT DO it for long. I’ve been told that they’re difficult to insert so prepare yourself for some practise…but isn’t it worth the effort?
On the other hands quite expensive (sighs!) and will cost you around 280-300$ and up. Take into account that they’re not meant to be used for long periods. We all know the less expensive fx lenses but they also lasts much less. If you take proper care of your sclera lenses they can last up to one year.
Sigh …. In my wish list I’d love to grave a model of the “whiteout sclera” (some of my “raven children” designs in my drawings have precisely this kind of pattern)

For european dwellers you can visit for example
fashion Contact lenses (based in UK)
and this other one based in Netherlands which have one of the largest catalog I have found: Fantasy city. They also have some fx make up too.
For an IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION OF MODELS (not only of scleral lenses but also of all kinds of fancy and fx lenses) don’t miss this other page (US based) called COSPLAY LAB though you will need prescription for these. Simply amazing! My favourites are the “whiteout sclera”, the “corvinus”, “lucian” sclera and from the non sclera models”zombified”, “lilith” and “succubus” hmm, no I wouldn’t mind to grab (or gifted) any of those…!
